30 Second Movie Review:Thor

I liked Thor.I just didn't love it,and thats ok.For every bit I was not pleased with,I felt there was something done right.I don't need the film version to be 100% faithful to the source,as long as it's not a complete ignorance of the stories that inspired it.This version of Thor fits in with Marvel Studio's bigger plans and endgame(Avengers film)quite well. The opening and all of the early stuff in Asgard was quite good, and the raid on the Frost Giant world was great, unfortunatley the best action sequence was done in the first 20 minutes of the film.Once Thor is stripped of his powers and banished to Earth is where I found myself a little bored.Chris Heimsworth was good as Thor, and Natalie Portman was good as Jane Foster, the scientist who helps Thor on his quest to regain his hammer Mjolnir.I felt the love connection between the two was not there and was not needed to the story.Stellan Skarsgard plays a pretty unimportant role as a colleague of Foster's who serves no real purpose until the underwhelming after credits scene.Overall the first Iron Man and Incredible Hulk films stand as the best of these films with Iron Man 2 holding an edge over Thor.Decent story, but a wasted chance at some truly great action that could have been done.3 out of 5.
