30 Second Movie Review:The Social Network
I don't know how much translates from what actually happened in real life.I can't comment on how accurate the portrayal of events are,so this review is based entirely on the film.Jesse Eisenberg plays Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. The story follows Mark, portrayed as a miserable loner incapable of actual connection to other people,as he invents a website that celebrates the connection between people. He has an idea but basically steals another group of students idea and merges them.In other movies these other students, the Winklevoss brothers would be the villains, yet you feel sympathy for what Mark did to them.Andrew Garfield(new Spidey)plays Mark's only real friend, who is the money behind the project, and also gets thrown under the bus by our protaganist. The only character that Mark treats with any respect is Justin Timberlake's Sean Parker, the founder of Napster. This is funny, because they make it clear early on that Sean is a snake, and the only person who doesnt see this is Mark. The story is told in two time periods,as Facebook is getting bigger in the past and in the present where Mark is being sued left and right.Excellent film,I give it 4 Stars.
