DC comics announced today that they are going to reboot their entire line and start with 52 different number 1 issues this September. This means that the long standing runs of Batman and Superman(both in their 700s)are coming to a stop.Characters will either have new origins or be retooled slightly, and Jim Lee has redisigned many costumes, including Superman's.
This is a shock,as DC has remained more old fashioned than Marvel in the sense of trying to keep their numbering system going, and not normally relaunching titles that haven't been cancelled. In the same breath DC regularly gets it's lunch handed to them by Marvel in sales,so maybe they thought a fresh start was needed.I hope this jumping on point brings new readers in,as is most definetly the hope and is always a good thing for the comics industry.
DC's first new number 1,"Justice League",by Geoff Johns and Lee goes on sale August 31st,coincidentally the same day "Flashpoint" 5 comes out, making me think that this story will actually cause some real change in the DC universe.
Yawn. See ya, DC. I'll stick to the indies, where the stories still stand out.
