30 Second Movie Review:Buried

"Buried" is one of those movies that will make you cringe. In a good way.Ryan Reynolds plays Paul,an American civilian contractor driving trucks in Iraq. His convoy gets attacked(terrorists?insurgents?,we aren't told)and he is buried alive in a coffin. The entire film takes place in said coffin.1 hour 35 minutes. And it works.Being a claustrophobe myself the first ten minutes was excrutiating to watch,as you feel all of the feelings that he feels, from panic to sheer frustration to terror to acceptance. His captors have given him a phone to communicate with them, and he also uses it to reach out to his employers, his family,911,anyone that will listen. You feel his desperation as he has been given a 9 PM deadline by his captors, get someone to pay 5 million dollars or you stay buried.Paul knows no one with money or influence, but Reynolds completely sells you on the fact that he is not going to give up until he figures out how to get out of the box. This is spoiler free so all I can say is the last ten minutes is a rollercoaster of emotions, and it doesn't let you down.I give this 4 out of 5 stars,an excellent film.
