New Superman
So the first guy is Brandon Routh who in my opinion did a great job playing Superman/Clark in "Superman Returns".That film failed five years ago to reignite the Supes franchise the way that "Batman Begins"did the year before. That is not Routh's fault, there are many factors.Batman will always draw people in over Superman.People like a bad boy,not a boy scout,it's just unfortunate. So instead of trying to continue in that line of continuity,WB decided to start over again.I understood why they did this with the Bat franchise,it was left in ruins, and the last film was released in 1997.They had to do something drastic. The last Superman film was 1987,yet they carried on the original continuity's story with "Superman Returns",which unlike the last couple of Batman films in the 90's was not considered a bad film, just not popular. So here we are with a brand new beginning for Superman, which probably means another origin story, and of course a new actor.British actor Henry Cavill, second pictured.I know him from nothing, and have no problem with him except that routh should still be Superman.I'm sure the thinking at WB is that the average moviegoer will be confused by the contradicting story elements in this new franchise and the fact that the same actor is essentially playing two different versions of Superman.I also think that the average moviegoer gets over stuff like this easily.People still go see Bond movies despite the fact that the actor only lasts an average of five films. After the next Batman film, which is reportedly Chris Nolan's last(as well as Christian Bale's)the average moviegoer will still go and see Batman films.I guess I can summon my feelings in two statements, give Routh a chance and Superman doesnt have a scraggly beard.
Desert Island Albums
So your stranded on a desert island, but luckily someone could airdrop you 10 albums that you are going to have to listen to for who knows how long. What would you pick?I guess my list looks like this-
1.Faith No More-Angel Dust
2.The Beatles-Abbey Road
3.The Who-Quadrophenia
4.Coheed and Cambria-In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth:3
5.Alice In Chains-Dirt
6.Incubus-Make Yourself
7.King's X-Faith,Hope,Love
8.Living Colour-Time's Up
9.Mr.Bungle-California
10.Queen-A Night At The Opera
This is interesting because this is the kind of list that evolves as time passes, some favorites don't make the list that would have a year ago or will in a year.

Am I Crazy?
So I have either a stomach bug(Thanks Clara)or ate something funky.I do not like to call out of work because I think it sets a poor precedent, but today was really not an option.Days when I am at work I generally work as hard as I can with one thing on my mind, getting home to my wife, dog and life.I love coming home and generally relaxing,or whatever is in store.Days like today though,as I watch TV,read and nap I really wish I was at work being productive. Is this common?Even on vacation,by Thursday I am ready to go back to the grind.I think that my life has been structured a certain way for almost 20 years and I am so set in my ways that even work is a welcome activity.I even wrote a list today of things to get accomplished at work tomorrow, should'nt I be reading comics and enjoying a sick day?I don't know if I would categorize myself as a workaholic, but I feel like being productive is more rewarding than sitting around.Maybe I am crazy.

SNL Digital Short Rihanna & Shy Ronnie- Robbing a bank
I don't watch SNL anymore for the most part, combo of on too late and too many bad sketches. If there is one saving grace the last few years it is Andy Samberg and the SNL Digital Shorts.I caught this one the other day and got a chuckle out of it.

Dark Knight Casting News
So Anne Hathaway has been confirmed as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.This I can see.She is a good actress, and good looking,so a plus for this film.Tom Hardy was announced as being cast to play an unknown character a few months ago,and the rumors swirled.People pointed to mainstream villains as Riddler and Killer Croc,to lesser known ones such as Hugo Strange.Turns out he will be playing Bane, best known for breaking Bruce Wayne's back in the comic series about twenty years ago, causing Jean Paul Valley to fill in for about a year as The Bat.Bane has been used before in film,in the terribly cartoonish piece of shit known as "Batman & Robin".I actually have high hopes for this character for a few reasons.Physically Bane is a challenge for Batman,so hopefully we will get some good fight scenes.People will be pissed that it's not a front line Bat villain such as Riddler,Penguin, etc, but remember that Ra's Al Ghul was the antagonist in "Batman Begins"and thats a character that only true comic fans know,he isnt as prevelant in the public eye.Chris Nolan has a pass with me even if he makes a film about The Snorks,so I am still as excited about this film as I ever was.
Best fight scene of all time
I shared this on the old blog a few years ago,but when you have a treasure like this you have to reshare it every once in a while. It is from a film titled"Undefeatable",and it is amazing in it's terribleness. It feels like you start watching a gay porno, and then a fight breaks out instead of sex.just when you think the shit cannot hit the fan any harder,90's female Van Damme Cynthia Rothrock arrives, wearing her mom jeans and wielding a bar towel as a weapon. The scene where the hero is punched and he drools just about does me in every time. Please enjoy.

Coheed and Cambria - Here We Are Juggernaut
Very excited, just found out thatI'm going to see Coheed & Cambria in Boston in a few months.I've seen them twice before, and they truly are an excellent live band.If you have never heard of them, they would best be described as a progressive metal band out of NY.All 5 of their albums are sci fi concept records, all connected and all conceived by the Lead Singer, main songwriter,Claudio Sanchez. This tour is interesting in that it is the tenth anniversery of thier first record,"The Second Stage Turbine Blade",and they will be playing that record in it's entirety, followed by an acoustic set.I am psyched as well just to go to a show, which as I get older becomes more of a project than ever before.Much like everything else in life.
X Men First Class Cast Pic
The first picture of the cast of the upcoming X prequel was unveiled today.Much like my anticipation for the film,I could care less.I think Matthew Vaughn is a good director(Kick Ass,Layer Cake),and I do enjoy the X Men,I just have little to no interest.I blame X3 and the Wolverine film for doing this to me.Maybe a trailer will come out and change my mind, but I dont think so.I am also getting tired of the need for constantly doing origin stories for comic films.I understand that you are trying to market an old property to a new audience in a different medium,I just get bored with it.The first X film felt like an origin of sorts and now we have to go back further to unearth more of these characters early stories.

New Cap Pic
So far the best and fullest pic of Chris Evans as Captain America. The uniform looks like a modified paratrooper uniform, replete with shield. This is the Marvel film on the current slate I am most excited about, hopefully it is as fun as the first "Iron Man".
Dredd
This came out a few months ago,but I figured I would share it anyway.First pic of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd.I'm really looking forward to this new version.I will admit to not hating the original, despite some of the bad elements(Rob Schneider?).Word is he will not take off his helmet which coincides with all of his comic appearences.I have only read a handful of old issues of "Dredd Rules"that I have found in 50 cent bins but they are quite enjoyable and I really like the absoluteness of the character. He reminds me of Frank Castle in the fact that there is only right or wrong,Castle's compass based on his code that all gangsters should die,Dredd's based on the law.I have heard that the story for the film will be entirely set during a raid on a building in Mega City One,giving it a "Die Hard" feeling.Thats just speculation though, keep reading and I'll update you.

First pic of new Spidey

Let's Get It Started
So I decided to reignite the blog I began a few years ago and got a bit(totally)lazy with. The title is Whatever,Wherever,Whenever which describes the topic's of choice.Whatever I feel like ranting about.Maybe I'll review a movie, maybe I'll go on about work, maybe music, maybe the state of the world today.Read at your own risk, enjoy it or don't.
